samurai statues - Kent Ninomiya

Kent Ninomiya.

Like George Washington or Abraham Lincoln in our country, many samurai are immortalized in Japanese culture with statues. This is a statue of Kusunoki Masashige, a 14th century samurai. It's located in the plaza area outside the Imperial Palace. Samurai leaders are heros in Japanese culture and revered as part of the national identity. That identity is also one of the few surviving links for Japanese Americans to the old country. I supposed that's the reason I write this.
